Dear Stem Cell Research Supporters: SAVE THE DATE and join the fight to educate and protect potentially life-saving cures for Michigan families. On January 20, 2010, the Senate Health and Policy Committee passed Senate bills 647-652 – a package submitted by Sen. Tom George and his colleagues that attempts to block most of the research contemplated by Proposal 2, and in direct violation of the will of Michigan voters. The bills have the opportunity to be moved to the Senate Floor and put to a vote by all 38 senators. Michigan voters have already voiced their support for modernizing stem cell laws and don’t want the Senate to further restrict, delay or obstruct research. Strong institutional and federal research guidelines are already in place. Michigan has the strongest restrictions on stem cell research of any state and is one of only three states where this research is protected by the State Constitution. Sincerely, Sophia M. Eichner |
