Michigan Citizens for Stem Cell Research & Cures

Dear Stem Cell Research Supporters:

SAVE THE DATE and join the fight to educate and protect potentially life-saving cures for Michigan families.

On TUESDAY, FEBRUARY, 23 please join patients, advocates, researchers, business and community leaders and many more for a Capitol Day event to educate our legislators in Lansing.

On January 20, 2010, the Senate Health and Policy Committee passed Senate bills 647-652 – a package submitted by Sen. Tom George and his colleagues that attempts to block most of the research contemplated by Proposal 2, and in direct violation of the will of Michigan voters.

The bills have the opportunity to be moved to the Senate Floor and put to a vote by all 38 senators. Michigan voters have already voiced their support for modernizing stem cell laws and don’t want the Senate to further restrict, delay or obstruct research. Strong institutional and federal research guidelines are already in place. Michigan has the strongest restrictions on stem cell research of any state and is one of only three states where this research is protected by the State Constitution.

Together, we will visit the offices of our state legislators and tell them to say “NO” to legislation that blocks important stem cell research that can save lives.

Please e-mail me at smeichner@sbcglobal.net if you can participate in this important event on Feb. 23 to meet with your state representative and senator. Include your name, phone number, e-mail and address.

We also invite you to join a brief training phone conference before Capitol Day. We will provide details in the coming days about this important event with dates/times for the mini training sessions.

We know your time is valuable. At the same time, we need your support. Please tell your friends, family and associates about this important issue, and ask them to join our Capitol Day. Please look at your schedules and commit. Let’s do everything we can during this crucial time in the fight to maintain the cause and spirit in which Proposal 2 was passed by our citizens.

Sincerely,
