What are embryonic stem cells?
Embryonic stem cells are the body’s repair kit. They can become any tissue in the body – and researchers are making breakthroughs using embryonic stem cell research at unprecedented rates.

Why are they so important?

Devastating, incurable diseases and injuries that stem cell research could one day cure and treat include:

• Heart disease
• Diabetes
• Parkinson’s
• Spinal cord injuries
• Sickle cell anemia
• Cancer
• And more

This research is only ten years old and holds vast possibilities.

How does this research benefit the Detroit community?
We are educating Detroiters about stem cell research and its potential for life-saving cures and treatments for diseases that disproportionately affect our community, including heart disease and diabetes.
